Through eight-week cohorts in detention settings, young people practice emotional regulation, self-care, healthy relationships, and accountability.

Re-entry bags provide hygiene products, journals, and practical resources so young people can return home with dignity and support.

Cohort 4 Kickoff

The Domino Affect is excited to welcome our fourth cohort! The Cohort 4 Group Kickoff marks the beginning of an 8-week journey focused on personal growth, emotional wellness, healthy relationships, accountability, and building a stronger future. During the kickoff, participants will meet their peers and facilitators, learn what to expect throughout the program, establish group expectations, and begin creating a safe and supportive environment where they can connect, reflect, and grow. Throughout the cohort, participants will engage in meaningful conversations, interactive activities, and real-life skill building designed to strengthen emotional regulation, communication, self-awareness, decision-making, and confidence. This is more than the start of a program. It’s the beginning of a community committed to breaking cycles and creating positive change, one domino at a time.

Our founder’s story

“I wanted to turn pain into purpose.”

The Domino Affect was born in 2021 from Dominique Whipple’s experience as a survivor of gun violence and a need to understand the root causes behind the choices people make.

What she found was a common thread: the absence of something vital. Whether it is resources, education, family, or support, unmet needs can lead individuals and families into difficult situations.

The Domino Affect exists to address those gaps, uplift communities, and create a safer, more hopeful future for the next generation. We believe pain can have a purpose when it is transformed into healing and progress.
